Five ideas for guided tours in Brittany

• Forest of Broceliande or Forest of Paimpont

  The forest of Broceliande is originally a mythical universe located in Brittany. It is the 12th century poet, Chrétien de Troyes who imagined it in his Arthurian legends. He depicts it as one of the most magical places on earth, with enchanted castles, fairies, dragons and other fantastic creatures. In reality, the place is called Forest of Paimpont , an hour’s drive from Rennes in the direction of Vannes. To begin with, come and visit the castle of Comper and its Center of the Arthurian Imaginary . The whole forest of more than 7000 hectares is a gold mine for the amateurs of walks with the possibility of meeting at the rhythm of the paths multitudes of animals, roe deer, migratory birds and stags. You will cross woods, moors and ponds in an enchanting atmosphere. For visits, don’t miss the magnificent castle of Josselin at the foot of the river Oust or the site of the Menhirs of Monteneuf where you can discover the stones, dolmens and menhirs in the heart of nature and get closer to their mystery.

• Pointe du Raz

  The south of Finistère has at its end a cape overhung by a large rocky cliff dominating the Iroise sea, the Pointe du Raz belonging to the commune of Plogoff is the most western point of Brittany. You can reach this majestic cliff of 70 meters high by two paths along the coast or directly by a central path more easily accessible by all. At its end, all the wild beauty is at your feet and if the weather allows it, you can see the famous lighthouses of La Vieille and Tévennec and further away the island of Sein. You will notice a large colony of black-headed gulls coming from the nearby Cap Sizun reserve.

• Belle-Île-en-Mer

  The largest Breton island, Belle-Île-en-Mer,, can be reached by ferry from the port of Quiberon. This large island of the Ponant has 80 kilometers of coastline, which is why it would be a shame to spend only one day there. There is a lot to do around its four communes: Locmaria, Bangor, Le Palais and Sauzon and their surrounding landscapes adorned with dunes, cliffs and fine sand beaches.

• Dinan

  Located in the Côtes d’Armor. The city of Dinan welcomes you. Walk through its cobbled streets surrounded by stone and half-timbered houses. At the top of the three kilometers long ramparts, the Sainte Catherine tower lets you enjoy the view. The splendid Jerzual street leads you to the Cordeliers and Merciers squares before reaching the port on the banks of the Rance. This coastal river and its banks are there to welcome beautiful walks on the old towpath that leads directly to Cap Fréhel, just a few kilometers away.

• Cape Fréhel

  Cap Fréhel, a grandiose and vibrant place with its steep cliffs falling into the ocean.
  It is immediately noticeable with its lighthouse rising to over 100 meters. You will have to climb 145 steps to reach the top, but at the end, what a reward! The view is exceptional!
  This is a paradise for seabirds that live in a bird sanctuary.
  A beautiful path leads you to the Fort La Latte which is also called the castle of La Roche Goyon. This building, dating from the 14th century, was a strategic element to protect the trade routes from possible attacks of the Anglo-Normans.
